A Study in the Book Of The Revelation
“The Heavenly Scene Around The Throne”

Share 7 Features Centered Around This Theme

1. Residing One on the Throne
Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

    1) Notice His Person: God
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Ps 47:8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.

    2) Notice His Posture: Sitting
Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

    3) Notice His Portrait:  Like Jasper & Sardius Stone
Rev 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardius stone:

THE JASPER  and  SARDIUS STONE CAN DEAL WITH:
    1} Reflecting His Glory
    2} Redemptive Work
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood,
    3} Retribution
Rev 14:19-20 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
    4} Relationship With Israel
5} Relating The Son to The Father

2. Rainbow Around The Throne
Rev 4:3 …and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

    1) Consider it’s Position: Around The Throne
Rev 4:3 and there was a rainbow round about the throne….
    2) Consider It’s Primary Color: Emerald
Rev 4:3 and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
    3) Consider It’s Promise: It Speaks of God’s Faithfulness to Extend Mercy & Grace
Gen 6:5-8 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Gen 9:13-17 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

3. Representatives of The Church Around The Throne: 24 Elders
Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats [thrones]: and upon the seats [thrones] I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

    1)  Consider Their Symbolism: They Are Reigning With Christ
Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats [thrones]
    2) Consider Their Status: They Are Clothed & Crowned
Rev 4:4 … four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment;…
Rev 19:7-8 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white:
Rev 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

* Purpose of The Judgment Seat of Christ: To Give an Account unto God
Rom 14:10-12 For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

CONCERNING CROWNS:
1. Soul Winners Crown (Crown of Rejoicing)
1 Thess 2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

2. Shepherd’s Crown (Crown of Glory)
1 Peter 5:2-4 Feed the flock of God which is among you…..
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

3. Sufferer’s Crown (Crown of Life)
Rev 2:10 …and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

4. Sanctified Crown (Incorruptible Crown )
1 Cor 9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

5. Second Coming Crown (Crown of Righteousness)
2 Tim 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Rev 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders….

4. Response Out of The Throne

Rev 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices:…

    1)  Picture of The Past: Caused People to Tremble
Ex 19:16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled.
    2) Preview of The Future (Tribulation): God’s Wrath in Judgment is Unleashed
Rev 8:5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
Rev 16:18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.

5. Recognition of The Holy Spirit Before The Throne
Rev 4:5  …and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

    1) Notice His Presence: As 7 Lamps of Fire
Rev 4:5 …and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne,
    2) Notice His Perfection: 7 Spirits of God
Rev 4:5 …and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
    Isa 11:2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

6. Resemblance of a Sea Before The Throne
Rev 4:6  And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:….

7. Responders of Praise to The One on The Throne
AS DISPLAYED BY:
      1) 4 Living Creatures
Rev 4:6  and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts [Living Creatures]…
1} Notice Their Position: In The Midst & Around The Throne
Rev 4:6  and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four living creatures
2} Notice Their Person: Perhaps a Combination of Cherubim & Seraphim
Rev 4:6  full of eyes before and behind.
Ezek 1:18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.
Ezek 10:12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
Rev 4:7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

Ezek 1:10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

    1. “Lion”= Jesus as The Sovereign  (King of Kings)
    2. “Calf or Ox”=  Jesus As The Servant
    3. “Face of Man”=  Jesus as The Son of Man
    4. “Flying Eagle”= Jesus as The Son of God
Rev 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him…
Ezek 1:11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
Isa 6:2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he did fly.

3} Notice Their Praise : It is Ceasless
Rev 4:8 …and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

        THEIR PRAISE IS CENTERED AROUND:
        1] God’s Purity
Rev 4:8 …saying, Holy, holy, holy,
        2] God’s Power
Rev 4:8 saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty,

Rev 4:9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

      24 Elders
Rev 4:10 The four and twenty  elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever,

1] They Have a High Value of His Person: They Cast Their Crowns Before Him
Rev 4:10 …and cast their crowns before the throne
2] They Have a High Value of His Purpose:  We Are Created For His Pleasure
Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

        OBSERVATION #1:
Remember, How You Live Now Has a Direct Correlation To Your Reward Later
    (1)  Stay Faithful
    (2)  Stay Fervent
    (3) Stay Focused

        OBSERVATION # 2:
The Beauty of Heaven & The Magnificence of God Far Exceeds Anything We Might Cherish Here on Earth

IN LIGHT OF THAT:
1] Look Up
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

2] Look Out
1 John 2:16-17 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away,

3] Look In
2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

        OBSERVATION # 3:
Take Time To Evaluate Why You Were Born on This Earth
     (1) Give Him Your Life
     (2) Glorify His Name
     (3) Get Blest !
